Seeking Senior Level Category Manager for Motor Oils, Chemicals, Functional Fluids, other

Location: Mid-Atlantic Region

Candidate will report to the Executive Vice President of Merchandising and will be responsible for, but not limited to the items listed below. Candidate must be willing to relocate to within 50 miles of Corporate Headquarters (if necessary).
• Increase sales
• Maintain and improve profitability and market share for assigned product lines and/or categories
• Work in conjunction with other seasoned staff members to support the company growth initiatives
• Responsible for product planning, product pricing, product marketing and overall product life cycle management
• Work with suppliers to ensure best in class vendor relations, best in class coverage, quality and first to market coverage
• Work collaboratively with store operations to ensure we continuously meet all customer requirements in a profitable manner

1. Drive sales and market share growth by operating cross-functionally with product replenishment, sales, finance, IT, and marketing departments
2. Negotiate ongoing competitive pricing with current and prospective suppliers
3. Work with pricing team to help determine pricing strategy through analysis of sales trends, competitors and end user buying habits
4. Become a subject matter expert on the product lines under your ownership with regards to quality and sourcing to include branding and end user preference
5. Meet with suppliers and review competitive offerings from vendor in same competitive spaces as lines currently sourced
6. Assist in the planning and production of marketing materials for online and print materials
7. Conduct ongoing research of new and upcoming items and product lines to promote and secure growth within categories
8. Develop monthly marketing and promotion plan to increase transaction spend with commodity chemicals, functional fluids, and motor oils
9. Work with NPD data and other share data to determine proper assortments for company owned stores
10. Work collaboratively with business analysts to develop rank and rate reporting by product line to improve commodity type throughput
11. Other duties as assigned

• Must have minimum 6 years’ experience in Automotive Aftermarket Category Management
• Must be highly proficient in Excel
• PowerPoint
• Access Data Base skill set a plus
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong math and analytical skills
• Knowledge of basic accounting principles
• Ability to manager and (re)prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
• Ability to negotiate multi-year sourcing agreements
• Ability to work in a team environment or individually
