How You’ll Make an Impact

The Division Account Manager will manage and grow the Valvoline business across all Branded & Private Label business by developing, calling on, and servicing Valvoline’s largest customer starting at the Division level. While having direct sales management and marketing support, this position will also require management of commissioned sales teams. In the role, you would be responsible for:

  • Developing, calling on, and servicing the account for all businesses supporting the Valvoline and Private Label family of products
  • Developing and implementing retail & wholesale sales strategies to attain growth targets outlined in the Account Strategic Plan. Position will work with Trade Marketing, Brand Marketing, Operations, Supply Chain, etc. to develop strategic and effective selling platforms including price, trade programs, promotions, shipping programs, and marketing support
  • Developing and executing channel and/or account specific marketing promotions within the respective division, communicating and coordinating sales activities with other Account Division Managers to maximize sales and promotional potential across all retail & wholesale channels within APG
  • Managing Valvoline’s customer supply chain actions to identify and implement most efficient and cost effective transportation of shipping Valvoline products to direct store locations & distribution centers
  • Utilizing dedicated APG account customer service group to best service and manage day to day fulfillment of goods, which requires face to face meetings/travel to customer locations and other venues to be successful 
  • Working with Valvoline management at the Director level to develop annual divisional plans. Review sales, volume/share, and profit on at least a monthly basis to monitor progress and manage P&L to deliver volume, sales and profit objectives with all brands/product lines
  • Working with Valvoline Customer Service and customer’s Accounts Payable group to insure prompt and accurate payment of all receivables
  • Working closely with field level Installer Channels Team in management of channel cohesiveness while trying to leverage internal business unit synergies to develop and deploy Commercial Programs
  • Serving as point person for all field level, account specific training needs and in-market clinics to encourage product and program level knowledge that will help drive product sales growth throughout all market channels

What You’ll Need

  • BS/BA preferred or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of five years in a sales/technical sales environment with an emphasis in the Automotive Aftermarket
  • Position will require extensive travel on a week to week basis in an effort to deliver on all above mentioned job requirements and effectively manage this business for long term growth and success; must be physically able to travel via automobile and/or plane, as well as being able to physically set up trade show exhibit booths to display and promote family of brands at various events throughout the year
  • Relevant industry / consumer goods / promotions experience and analytical strength
  • Fluent computer knowledge with a background using Microsoft Windows Operating system (Excel, Word, Powerpoint) 
  • Ability to think critically and creatively both individually and as a member of a ‘winning’ team in an effort to position Valvoline to win in the retail/wholesale marketplace
  • High levels of organizational and planning skills are required, as well as a willingness to build better, lasting relationships with the customers
  • Experience in leading projects, annual reviews, presentations and marketing plans
  • Experience in understanding financial statements and understanding profit drivers and product/portfolio optimization
  • Responsiveness and a high attention to detail 
  • Familiarity with business growth levers including revenue, volume, share, opportunity cost, and return on investment calculations 
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
